If you couldn’t tell by whatever you clicked to get you here, my name is Austin Walker (no one calls me austin j walker…it’s just easier to get all of my social stuff that way). The purpose of this whole page is just to fill you in a little on who I am, so here are some important parts.
I’m married to one of the most creative people I know. Emma’s the best ever. If you ever see anything I’ve done and think, “Wow, that looks good,” it’s her doing. We were married July 2, 2011. If we ever get to blogging things, or if you ever need a freelance designer, here’s our stuff.
I have a daughter named Maisy who was born May 24, 2015. She’s the most beautiful dictator I’ve ever met.
I am a student pastor in Little Rock, AR at Fellowship Bible Church‘s Little Rock Campus. I’ve served at Fellowship in a few different roles at two of our campuses since 2008.
I’ve had other jobs, though. These are all real, in random order, and only a couple of them were as a teenager. I’ve done data entry. I worked an assembly line putting together built-in water purifiers for new construction homes. I’ve been a fry cook. I was on the grounds crew for the biggest little league baseball park in the nation, later I was grounds crew for a golf course that is now an apartment complex. I was a janitor for a local community theater’s rehearsal space. I was a wedding photographer. I worked for Hot Dog Mike (one of Little Rock’s first food trucks). And a guy paid me $30 to mow his lawn a few times.
My top 5 StrenghtsFinder themes are Woo, Belief, Communication, Includer, and Responsibility (bonus round: my #6 is Positivity). One of my professors calls that combination “The Cult Leader” so that’s equal parts cool and terrifying.
I’m also interested in how having “The Cult Leader” typed out impacts the traffic this page gets.
I grew up playing baseball and then played football in high school.
I was impressively bad at football, especially considering how genuinely high my work ethic and dedication was.
I love social media. Check out the links below.
I’m typically reading 4 or 5 books at a time.
I got a lock pick set for Christmas 2015 and I love it, so basically I’m training for a life of crime.
I hate the beach. But not as much as I hate cats.
I thought “pamphlets” was pronounced “PAMP-lets” not “pam-flets” until I was 23 years old.
I just look at other people’s Spotify playlists to find out what music to listen to.
If I could sit down and spend a day with 5 living people to learn all I could, they would probably be Jon Acuff, Chip Gaines, Craig Groeschel (my pastor growing up), Brené Brown, and Donald Miller. Disclaimer: that list may change every single day, so no promises this is current.
I used to put as many hashtags as possible on my instagram posts so I could get more likes.
I also used to be a professional photographer.
Xbox Live is one of my guilty pleasures. Hit me up on twitter for my gamer tag, because I’d love to show you how Rainbow 6 is meant to be played.
